Summary
MaidSafe is a network for the renting of unused computing resources or storage space as well as a platform for running decentralized applications. You can rent out any unused storage space, processing power or data connection on the SAFE (Secure Access for Everyone) Network in return for payment in Safecoin. In a process called Self-Encryption, files are broken up into pieces and distributed across the network, ensuring that only you can access your files. There is no central weak point in the network since everything is decentralized and spread across several nodes. Using the SAFE APIs, decentralized applications with various other functions can also be built on the network. Safecoin, the “oil” of the MaidSafe network, is the digital asset that is used to pay for network services.
